The deceased whose name was given as Sgt. Odei Job Kwame, said to be in his early 40’s, sustained gunshot wounds during a shootout when he bumped into the gang of robbers on his way to Yeji.

The incident occurred at around 9pm Friday near Abease on the Kintampo Prang road. Yeji District Police Commander, DSP Eric Awiadem, who confirmed the story to Joy News, said; “The officer who was in uniform met an ongoing robbery incident and the robbers upon spotting the military officer sensed danger and asked him to step down from his car. He complied but they beat him up mercilessly before some of them suggested that they kill him”

Police investigations have started as officials say this is the second time such incident has happened in the said area where a Muslim Cleric was murdered in March
